Fireworks Scare Me To Death!
O.K. … I admit it. When it comes to 4th of July fireworks, I turn into one big, quivering scaredy-cat. I just can’t help it. The noise of fireworks “bursting in air” is intense and protracted. I just want it to stop. The loud booms remind me thunder and lightening storms …. and I can’t stand thunder! Where is a nice, deep, sound-proof cave when you need one!
My human companion tells me that I’m not the only animal that is frightened by the noise of fireworks. Both dogs and cats, if not tucked safely away during fireworks shows, will bolt for the door in full escape mode. Many a treasured pet is lost during the holiday, never to be found again. Fortunately, there are precautions humans can take to keep their beloved pets calm and safe. The Oregon Humane Society has compiled a wonderful, life-saving list of tips that will your pets get through the festivities. You can find the OHS’s tip for the 4th at: http://www.portlandpetcommunity.com/industrynews/keep-pets-safesecure-this-fourth-of-july/
I wish you, your family, and your pets a very happy, and fun-filled, 4th of July.
Happy Tails,
Callie
