Portland Dog of the Week – Adopt Tanner!
Tanner is looking for a patient, loving forever home. Please give this pooch the chance to have a terrific life! Much thanks, Callie
Tanner (121723) is the Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Week. He is a very scared, special three year old Pug/Chihuahua mix in search of a quiet home. He will need to find a companion who will allow him to go at his own pace and be gentle and kind to him. He will not come up to you immediately as he was born and raised in his previous home and did not get introduced to strange people, places, or things and so doesn’t know what to think about them! Although he has been around dogs and cats, he may be afraid of them as well so he should be slowly introduced to new animals. He may do best as the only dog in the family. Tanner will need to find a home without children, as he does get snappy when he is afraid. If you have experience with a fearful dog and have room in your heart and home for this little guy, he would love to get to know you.
In his past he mainly lived outdoors including sleeping there at night, but did spend some time indoors. Once he gets to know you he will play gently with both people and other dogs. A training consultation is included prior to Tanner’s adoption to help you learn more about him. He also comes with a 1 hour post-adoption consultation, a bed, some food, toys, and “The Cautious Canine” book to help his new owners help him transition into his new home. You can meet with Tanner at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Visiting hours are 10 am to 7 pm on Sunday-Wednesday; and 10 am to 9 pm on Thursday-Sunday. Adoptions end one half hour prior to closing each day.
He is one of Bear’s Buddies. Adopt me by April 30 and you’ll get 25% off the Tanner’s adoption fee of $85. The adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS I.D. tag, initial vaccines, one month pet insurance, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support!
