Cat Adoption Team Announces that the Cat Food Bank will be CLOSED Sunday, May 13
Comments Off
The Cat Adoption Team’s Cat Food Bank, normally open every second Sunday, is cancelled for the Sunday, May 13, distribution day.
The Cat Food Bank provides free cat food and litter to cat owners who are struggling in this poor economy. And to home-bound cat-loving seniors served through two Washington County Meals On Wheels programs.
On April 9, the Sherwood shelter was flooded when a pipe burst. The damage caused has disrupted normal operations of the Cat Adoption Team. The food bank area was not flooded; however that space is now being used to house supplies and equipment removed from damaged areas of the shelter. (Details at: http://catadoptionteam.org/news-events/cat-news/flooding-at-cat-and-we-dont-mean-kittens). Later in April, CAT will be placing some mobile adoption units in the front parking lot, which will hamper access to the Cat Food Bank for our clients.
Cat Food Bank clients are urged to seek help from:
- The Pongo Fund in NE Portland: http://www.thepongofund.org/
- FIDO in Oregon City: http://fido-clackamas.org/dog-food-bank (has limited cat food)
Donations are still needed to build up our stock for the cat food bank. Routinely, donations do not keep up with monthly demand. We hand out over 3,000 pounds of cat food every month. Donations of cat food are needed to keep the food bank stocked. Drop off donations or make a monetary donation directly to the food fund. Details at www.catadoptionteam.org/catfoodbank.
Over 113,000 pounds of cat food has been distributed to needy cat-owning families since June 2008!
If we need to cancel the June 10 food distribution day, that information will be posted on CAT’s website (http://www.catadoptionteam.org/).
