No Surprise – The Oregonian reports that Oregonians (including the Portland Area) are “Ga Ga” about their Dogs and Cats!

The Oregonian newspaper reported Sunday, May 20th, something all of us local pet-owners already know – we truly adore our pets!  A national survey of 300 folks showed that 46% perferred dogs, 12% went with cats, and 28% liked both.  And, while I don’t agree with them, 15% disliked both species.  Who are these people anyway?

In Oregon, it is all an together different story.  People who like dogs vs. cats were pretty evenly split.  34% were pro-dog while 30% were cat fanciers.   And, not surprisingly to me based on my encounters with humans, a whopping 35% were ecumenical dog and cat lovers, enjoying the company of both species.   Only 1% of those surveyed disliked both cats and dogs.  And, contrary to the wide-held belief that dog and cats are natural enemies, there are many mixed dog and cat households throughout the USA where animals live happily side-by-side as life-long chums.

So, Portland Pet Community, once again we have shown that this is, indeed, the most pet-friendly part of the USA, if not on the planet.  Keep loving your pets and sharing that wonderful bond that exists between humans and their animal companions!

Please let us know what kind of “pet-household” you have.  I am sure that our members and visitors would like to learn about your pets and their experiences.

Thanks again for reading my blog.
