Launched in the fall of 2010, PortlandPetCommunity.com is dedicated to celebrating the special relationship that exists between humans and their pets.   Our local pet community is unique.  Portland, with her environs, is well-known as being an extremely pet-friendly city.  This is a place where people love to show off and talk about their pets (they’re part of the family, right?) and their pets revel in the attention.  Our city, one of the first to establish a humane society, cares deeply for the welfare and rights of animals. This website provides resources and the interactive community where pet-lovers, and the businesses / organizations that support them, can come together to connect, learn from, and support one and other.

I have been very blessed, having had amazing and loving animals throughout my life.  These animals have provided me with companionship and unconditional love.  I have learned so much from them, while they asked for so little in return.  It is no wonder why so many people choose to invite animals into their homes to become part of their lives.  My current furry friend, Callie, is one of the gentlest and most patient creatures on the planet.

One of my great passions is animal welfare.  Over the past decade, I have worked pro-bono with the Oregon Humane Society, helping them with fund-raising / marketing campaigns and projects.  More recenly, I have been involved with the Spay & Save spay and neuter program for cats.  A primary goal  of PortlandPetCommunity.com will always be to help animals find the happiness, health, and loving homes that they deserve.
